ny fashion week means lots of shopping…

…Fashion Week is in full swing and the energy in New York is at a major high! This is a week when the city truly does not sleep – designers are up all night with final touches on collections, early mornings to get to 9am shows, editors running around the city, models running around the city, lots of coffee, lots of champagne, launch parties, collection parties, after parties…and no time for sleep – but who needs it when there’s an Alexander Wang show to go see?

So while following the schedule of some of my favorite designers presenting today and where their shows are being held, here are the best boutiques in the area to stop in and shop…if you can squeeze some time in between shows!

10am: Peter Som at Milk Studios (15th St/9th Ave)

pre-fall 2012

Where to shop after the show:

jeffrey: 14th st/10th ave

Jeffrey is one of my favorite stores in nyc (check out this post I wrote on one of my last trips) because they have the most amazing collections and hard to find pieces.

matthew williamson: 14th st/9th ave

Walk about 50 steps west of Jeffrey and you will find Matthew Williamson. Love love love him. His clothes are gorgeous and always in the most beautiful color palettes. The collection is effortless chic with great printed pants and fitted jackets along with flowing maxi dresses for any occasion.

1pm: Jason Wu at the St. John’s Center Studios (Washington/Houston)

aloha rag: greenwich st/spring st

Another fave is Aloha Rag. (Check out this previous post!) This boutique is dangerous because every time I shop in here, I want to buy everything. They also have the greatest sales associates – so nice and super helpful. Make sure to check out their AR collection – great styling and great fit.

rick owens: hudson/broome

I don’t think I even need to explain why I love this store as I am sure you already know. Two words – leather jacket. As it is pricey, it is hands down the best leather jackets out there. And considering it’s February in nyc, it might be a great excuse to splurge!

4pm: Doo.ri will be showing at Eyebeam (21st St/11th Ave)

pre-fall 2012

Where to shop after the show:

balenciaga: 22nd st/10th ave

After the Doo.ri show, stop in Balenciaga and see what newness they have in store for you. Of course the accessories are always a favorite and right now I am loving the Polly bag. See if they have it in Bleu Cobalt…yum.

comme des garçons: 22nd st/10th ave

And a few doors down, you will (or maybe will not!) find the Comme des Garçons boutique. I love stopping and seeing what I can find for the boyfriend here. The collection has a structured, architectural vibe and the technical details speak for themselves. The store alone is amazing in it’s non traditional entrance.

Enjoy the shows – whether you are watching live or live stream! I’ll have more fashion week boutiques over the next few days.
