…I love Marilyn Monroe. She is stunning, classic, the epitome of old Hollywood, and let’s be honest, the girl knew how to work a camera – let alone, the world! So when hip’tique, one of our fave shops in Santa Monica, invited me to their first ever, Tastemaker’s Dinner in honor of the blonde bombshell and the rare Lawrence Schiller images they have hanging in the store (I am sure you saw Vanity Fair this month!), I was beyond thrilled to attend!
To celebrate the Hollywood Icon, hip’tique owner, Christine Berardi , and OneNine Design transformed the store into a modern, magical picnic swapping your traditional red gingham for beautiful white and yellow decor. I met up with Lucy and Mary Firestone from the lifestyle blog Firestone Sisters and we kicked off the party with a little shopping, a little bubbly, and of course, a little Marilyn…
Seeing these images was captivating! Lawrence Schiller was on assignment for Look Magazine in 1962 when he photographed Marilyn while she was filming Something’s Gotta Give. Who knew he would be catching some of the last known moments from one of the most famous Hollywood scarlets in history.
We sat down for an incredible dinner catered by Elana Horwich of Meal and a Spiel. (I also learned Elana does private cooking classes – think I’ll invest before the big day!) We also did a wine tasting with the team behind the newly opened Dry Tour Wine Bar & Restaurant – so excited to go after all the amazing wine. We also had to die for sweets from Intentional Chocolate. And as we dined in our al fresco ambiance, the night was topped off with a Marilyn movie…
So when you have a second, go to Hip’tique and check out these amazing images. It’s like you’re in a gallery, but you can also shop and drink bubbly. I think Marilyn would approve!
