christmas comes early…

…for all of us in the fashion industry, Fashion’s Night Out is the biggest night of the year! We wait, anticipate, figure out what events we are going to attend, what designer is going to be where – it is a whirlwind of excitement – even my boyfriend agrees to join (but I have a feeling it was for the food trucks!). This year was no different as we celebrated FNO for the third year in a row in West Hollywood.

After stopping by multiple events in world record time, here are the highlights:

Christian Louboutin…I started off my night at one of my favorite stores. The invitation said “Get glammed up from your head to your toes” and I was not going to miss that considering my toes prefer to be in Loubies! The store had a vintage beauty parlor theme complete with mock beauty products made especially for the designer – so quirky and creative! There was a DJ spinning on the outdoor patio which was perfect for a warm summer evening and there was plenty of Grey Goose cocktails for everyone. Upstairs was complete with hair stylists and (my favorite part) two makeup artists from Make Up Forever, applying false eyelashes. BUT, these were not just any fake eyelashes…these were handmade custom lashes created just for FNO. I opted to take them home instead of wear them – had to savor the beauties!

Diane Von Furstenberg –DVF always throws a fun party and for FNO, they had a DJ along with cocktails, bites, a photobooth, and most importantly, they were launching her new fragrance, Diane. It smells delicious and I love what Diane had to say about it (at her FNO event in the Soho)…

”I feel like you young girls underestimate the power of fragrance. I think that lately, in the last ten, fifteen years, fragrances were just a beautiful bottle, a beautiful celebrity, but that was it. In this bottle I have put all my love, all my passion, and all my seduction secrets.”

Arcade Boutique – Just a few steps away from DVF, we popped in Arcade because not only do I love everything in this store (I seriously want it all), but they were hosting an extra special trunk show with famed shoe designer Jerome Rousseau. I had a chance to meet the designer and he is adorable – not to mention his shoes are gorgeous! He showed me an amazing animal print boot that was one of his favorites from the AW11 collection along with a metallic silver stiletto that stole my heart. Arcade was also hosting the signature Grill Cheese trunk in front of the store. I was super excited as all this shopping had worked up an appetite and, honestly, the happiness on my boyfriends face was priceless!

Paige Premium Denim – Popping over to Robertson, I wanted to stop in and see one of my close friends at Paige. I knew the store would be rockin’ and since these are the ONLY jeans I will wear (another obsession – GET A PAIR!), I had to stop in for the festivities. PPD had one of my favorite events – sip some champagne, pick up a few new pairs of PPD, and then get a mini mani from one of the Bliss manicurists. And of course they had every Essie color to choose from!

Curve – Walking a couple doors down from PPD, Curve was hosting an all out event with Falling Whistles, an amazing campaign for peace in Congo. All proceeds from FNO sales went to the campaign as Falling Whistles partners up with local leaders to rehabilitate women and children, and also advocate for peace. It was a fun event, but most importantly, it supported a great cause! (Learn more at www.fallingwhistles.com)

3.1 Phillip Lim – As our final stop of the night, Phillip Lim was jammed packed and I was thrilled because their event was to benefit the Silverlake Conservatory of music. There was cocktails from Deleon Tequila, eats from XOIA, and a live performance from the band CULTS.

FNO coming to a close

So there’s my whirlwind of a night! Hope you had a chance to do something fun and support your local retailers. Now the countdown begins for FNO 2012!
